It is possible however that there is nothing wrong wtih Jesus but that Dan Brown has cast an aspersion on something that was acceptable and probably way more powerful than he could imagine.

Laura, I've never been that comfortable with Jesus either. If he isn't trying to pressure me into doing things that I just don't do, then he's hogging the covers or calling me "Antwonye" by mistake.
And if by "loner" you mean "someone with such an overwhelming need for acceptance and reassurance that he proclaimed himself the son of God and courted fanatically loyal follwers who would eventually found a religion in his name", then yeah.

So as a lover of literature and pop culture I read Dan Browns book. (Let me specify that I placed him in the latter category.) Yes, it was horrible. And I felt no romance between our two main characters. It even made me not like Tom Hanks, who I still have a soft spot for from all of my favorite romantic comedies of the later 80’s – early 90’s. Don’t even try to say you weren’t moved by Sleepless in Seattle, because I still tear up. Now that you have heard proof of my fabulous taste, I didn’t think the actual book was that bad. I mean, it was bad, but the first 100 or so pages were entertaining, and I don’t even like action/thrillers. It was only in the end where he went a little too far, tried to make a romance, and poor Robert Langdon actually had to have a voice. Other than that I was ok with it. It wasn’t fabulous and ground breaking, considering the whole idea has already been circulated a few million times, but it was an easy enjoyable read. Until of course our characters spoke.
What I don’t understand is why the Catholics are so crazy. Being a cradle Irish one myself, I have never been comfortable with Jesus, I mean he seemed kind of a loner, and I would think a relationship with Mary brings him a little more into focus with our present public. If I were the pope, I would support this swinging, man about town version. It’s more relatable.
